Fourteen urgent rain and flood projects have been completed in record time – just 110 days after being commissioned. The Emir of Makkah region, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal who is also the Chairman of the Sub-Committee of Rainwater and Flood Treatment Project, made the announcement Tuesday. The 14 projects form part of a rapid solution to the perennial Jeddah floods problem. They include the Umm Al-Khair and Al-Samer dams, flood drainage canals and water drainage pipes at the Prince Majed Road-Palestine Road intersection. Other works have been put in place to stop water from accumulating inside important locations such as the King Abdullah Underpass that intersects with the Madina Road.
