The Makkah Technical Council has organized the 16th meeting of the Gulf Authority of Vocational Skills which will host a number of delegates from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states to discuss improving the skills of workers. Delegates are from Oman, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and include representatives from the General Secretariat of the GCC. The two-day meeting starts Monday. Dr. Rashid Bin Mohammed Al-Zahrani, President of the council, welcomed the delegation. He said efforts should be made to upgrade the skills of GCC citizens. Oman hosted the second Gulf Skills Competition in March which covered cars, electricity, welding, computer applications and web design. There were 32 competitors and 32 experts from the Gulf states. Oman came first, with UAE second and Saudi Arabia in third place. Bahrain will host the next event in 2013. __
