year-old diabetic man who collapsed on Al-Dhabab Street in Riyadh with blood gushing from his head had to wait an hour to receive medical attention. When a group of passersby realized the man was unconscious, they immediately called for an ambulance. When the ambulance did not arrive, they tried to stem the man's bleeding and revive him by splashing water on his face. Despite their efforts, the old man did not regain consciousness. The crowd then heard the sound of ambulance sirens approaching, but it turned out to be from an ambulance responding to another emergency case, Asharq newspaper reported Thursday. Eventually the old man opened his eyes and told the group that his name was Sultan and that he was diabetic. The ambulance finally arrived an hour later. Paramedics assured passersby that the old man would be okay, and then took him to the nearest hospital.
