The Consumer Protection Association (CPA) is investigating the case of a new car whose airbag opened suddenly while the driver was driving on Madina-Yanbu Highway last week. Okaz/Saudi Gazette viewed the complaint filed by the driver to the CPA, which identified the type of car and its relevant details. A source said that the CPA will start contacting authorities to get more technical information about the causes of the incident. The driver of the car, Hashem Al-Shareef, received a call from the foreign manufacturing company after he registered a complaint by email. The company's representative told Al-Shareef that the results of the investigation will be available within two weeks. Al-Shareef said the car malfunctioned and the airbag opened as if the car had had a collision. But there was no actual collision, he said. This is the first case the CPA is investigating with regard to the malfunctioning of automobile airbags. __
