As a part of the ongoing Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC) Film Festival, an Idian feature film “Adaminte Makan Abu” (“Abu, son of Adam”) was screened by the Consulate General of India Tuesday in the premises of Sri Lankan Consulate. The film, with English sub titles, is based on the story of a poor perfume seller, Abu, whose only remaining wish in life is to perform Haj. He strives hard to fulfill his wish, but at the last moment he opts out when he fears that the his earnings were not fully legitimate. The film, which has earned many national and state-level awards and has been chosen as India's official entry to be considered for nomination for Oscars, was attended by a large gathering including foreign diplomats, Saudi nationals, journalists, and prominent members of the Indian community. A documentary, “An Indian Symphony”, showing the transformation of the world's largest democracy into the world's second fastest growing economy was also screened.
