Arab and Gulf countries have no more time to waste talking to Russia and China about the Syrian crisis as both countries seem to have no concern for the Syrian people and appear to be trying to find a new card to play. The Russian and Chinese position on the bloody crackdown by the heartless regime of Bashar Al-Assad is clear. Both countries are more interested in protecting the Syrian regime no matter what the cost without any consideration for the plight of the hapless civilians in Syria. Both countries are resisting pressure from European nations and the rest of the world in their unreasonable power play in a complex situation, hoping that a new political landscape in the Middle East will favor them in the long run. Both countries are putting their selfish interests above the welfare of people in the region. Russia and China have political and economic interests in Syria, Iran and other Mideast countries and must be thinking that these countries are aces up their sleeves. Russia and China should realize that they cannot sacrifice the dignity and honor of the people in the Middle East for whatever gains they expect from supporting Syria and its allies. They should realize that people are not commodities and that their current policies may backfire later on. They are placing their bets on the wrong side of the political fence by making material gain their top priority. In the long run, policies that do not consider the dignity, honor and welfare of people will not prevail. This is a lesson from history that many countries have never learned. __
