The Jeddah Mayoralty closed a Lebanese restaurant in Al-Aziziya Municipality on Monday and fined it SR17,000, the highest possible penalty for violating health rules, Al-Watan newspaper reported Wednesday. The restaurant, Shajarat Al-Arz Al-Lebnani, named after the Lebanese Cedar, did not store and prepare food properly. The decision was taken after several inspections, said Dr. Bashir Abu Najm, Director of the mayoralty's Commercial Control Administration. All the confiscated food was destroyed. He said the administration regularly checks restaurants and deals firmly with violations.
