The municipality of Samta in Jizan has closed down a number of restaurants and confiscated large quantities of unhygienic food and vegetables during a recent inspection campaign. Municipality head Muhammad Al-Qahtani said two cafeterias and five restaurants had been closed down for failing to renew licenses, recruiting unlicensed workers, possessing rotting food and unhygienic storing of meat. Al-Qahtani called on the public to report any violations or poor standards of cleanliness to the municipality.
