The Supreme Court announced that Sunday June 25 would be the first day of Eid Al-Fitr in Saudi Arabia following the sighting of the new moon. The Supreme Court had called on Muslims to sight the crescent in the Kingdom on Saturday. The United Arab Emirates and Qatar have confirmed that Eid Al-Fitr will begin on Sunday after the crescent was sighted. Meanwhile, Oman's Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs has announced that Sunday, June 25, will be the last day of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and Monday, June 26, will be the first day of Shawwal or the first day of Eid Al-Fitr after failing to sight the crescent in Muscat. The announcement officially marks Saturday as the last day of the holy fasting month of Ramadan in Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries. Eid Al-Fitr starts when the new moon is spotted in the sky, making the Eid holiday different around the world.— SG/ Al Arabiya English
