The Royal Court issued a statement today announcing that the Supreme Court said that it has not been religiously proved to the Court the sighting of the crescent of Shawwal month for the year 1431 on Wednesday evening. The Supreme Court also said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said "Observe fast when you see it (the new moon) and break fast when you see it (the new moon of Shawwal), but when (the actual position of the moon is) concealed from you (on account of cloudy sky), then count thirty days." Therefore, Thursday, September 9th, is the complement of the holy month of Ramadan and Friday, September 10th, is the first day of Eid Al-Fitr. The Supreme Court congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the Crown Prince, the Second Deputy Premier, government and citizens of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and expatriates on the advent of Eid Al-Fitr. The Supreme Court also asked Allah Almighty to accept their fasting and prayers.
