RIYADH – Maj. Gen. Sulaiman Al-Yahya, director general of passports (Jawazat), said that more than 400,000 foreigners have completed final exit procedures by taking advantage of the three-month amnesty announced by the government. "A total of 404,253 labor and residency law violators have been benefited during the grace period and of these more than 100,000 have already left the Kingdom," he said. Al-Yahya made the remarks after visiting the general service center at the Jawazat detention center in Shumaisi near Makkah on Monday. He also inspected the functioning of the facilities arranged to serve the Umrah pilgrims at Shumaisi checkpoint, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The Jawazat chief urged all the violators to take advantage of the amnesty period during the remaining 13 days of the 90-day campaign titled "Nation without any violator." He warned that there won't be any leniency toward those violators who failed to benefit from the amnesty. "The security agencies will start nationwide raids to catch the violators and take penal actions against them. Those citizens and foreigners who give any support to the violators in terms of providing them transportation, shelter, and job will also face punitive measures," he said. Maj. Gen. Khaled Al-Juaid, assistant director general of Jawazat for Haj and Umrah Affairs, Maj. Gen. Abdurahman Al-Harbi, director of Jawazat in Makkah region, and other officials also accompanied him during the inspection tour.
