Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Local and handmade products were showcased in a fundraiser annual exhibition at a five star here at the weekend. The exhibition attracted a lot of people, especially the youth. Exhibitors from the Gulf area as well as Arab consulates were part of the Basmat Khair exhibition hosted by Al-Oula non-profit organization. Al-Oula is one of the first NGOs in Jeddah and has been working for 55 years. According to Dania Al-Maeena, CEO Al-Oula, the purpose of the exhibition was to raise a million riyals to support the children of South Jeddah through support, kills and sports programs. "We are very happy with the exhibition and the idea behind it. Our sponsors were very kind and they helped us achieve our target. Our vendors, visitors and customers all helped us reach the target." Some children awareness campaigns were part of the exhibitions such as ‘Kafa Bie' meaning ‘enough is enough'. The campaign focused on creating an awareness about harassment of children in society. Specialized corners for productive families were also available during the two days of the exhibition. Meaad Almehimidi, presenting' Rastaka', a brand made by productive families, explained that they are part of Al-Oula and they sell handmade products that includes hand embroidery. From their booth, visitors enjoyed buying several artistic pieces that presented the Hejazi culture as well as Ramadan. Dr. Nevine Darwish, wife of the Consul General of Egypt in Jeddah, said, "We are very happy to be part of this exhibition and helping the children in South Jeddah. I like to represent Egypt in events, especially if its a charity event in Ramadan. I picked all the products that are made in Egypt and I also wanted to represent the famous Egyptian Ramadan atmosphere".
