Saudi Gazette JEDDAH - Spiritual paintings, artwork showcasing the Kingdom's history and art pieces that were featured in old Hejazi homes were part of the annual Shara Art Fair being held at Gold Moore Mall in Jeddah. The fair is divided into several sections that are run by several of the Kingdom's art galleries. Some pieces focus on Arabic calligraphy and there are many photographic pieces featuring old buildings and lifestyles in the Kingdom. Visitors can also see special artworks that depict Saudi culture and history through the eyes of Saudi artists. Several pieces also depict the cultures of other countries such as Egypt. The fair, which started on June 1 and will continue until June 5, seeks to unite and empower the artistic community in the Kingdom. By collecting works of famous artists, the Shara Art Fair seeks to empower and bring together artists from across the country. Visitors can enjoy several art exhibitions in the fair, including "20 Icons of French Design" that showcases the strongest symbol of French creativity and French artists' ability to read conventions to reinterpret them. Hafez Gallery is also showcasing several art pieces by local and international artists. Maïmouna Guerresi, an Italian artist, is one of the most prominent international artists whose work is being featured by the gallery. The Shara Art Fair is hosted by The Saudi Art Council and is held under the patronage of Princess Jawaher bint Majed bin Abdulaziz.
