Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — In an attempt to unite and empower the artists community in the Kingdom, a five-day art fair is being organized at the Gold Moore Mall in Jeddah. By collecting works of famous artists, the Shara Art Fair seeks to empower and bring together artists from across the Kingdom. The fair, which opened on June 21, presents miscellaneous art collections and pieces by Saudi artists, including Mohammed Alkhateeb and Youssef Jaha. Organized by the Saudi Art Council for the second year in a row, the fair showcases artworks that depict Saudi culture and history through the eyes of Saudi artists. The fair is divided into several sections given over to a number of the Kingdom's galleries. Some pieces focus on Arabic calligraphy and there are a number of photographic pieces featuring old buildings and lifestyle in the Kingdom. One visitor to the fair, Sarah Mohammed, said having the event for the second time is a positive indication for the future of the Kingdom's art scene. "The paintings are very beautiful and there are some unique pieces. This is my first time to visit such a fair during Ramadan, and I enjoyed the experience," another visitor said. Several companies and galleries are participating in the fair, including Al-Mansouria Foundation, Athr Gallery, Cuadro Gallery, Hafez Gallery, Mashareq Oil Barrel Collection, Medd Cafe, as well as Roastery Shelter Shoppe.
