Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Hyderabad Pain and Palliative Care Trust (HPPCT) Jeddah chapter, a palliative care organization, organized an awareness program in Jeddah recently. The event was sponsored by Al Ryan International polyclinic Jeddah. HPPCT is currently running a program home based palliative care program with name "Life at your doorstep" (Supporting patients and families where they want to be) was highlighted in the program. Mir Mahmoud Ali welcomed the gathering and expressed appreciation for their presence, while Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig hosted the program. HPPCT members emphasize with their fellow human beings and help them overcome the toughest battle of life by giving solace and comfort to patients with great moral support, encouragement, and service for the rest of their life with proper care and treatment. To showcase this a play, which was written and directed by Amer Ghaffar, was displayed in the event. He showed the Trust's aims and objectives through this play. The play was well liked by the audience as it highlights the pain of a suffering family and the trust's helping role. Altaf Almaeker played the role of the patient, Mir Mahmoud Ali worked as father, Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig played the role of doctor while Amir Ghaffar played the male nurse, Amjad as a social worker and Mohd. Azeemuddin the child. This awareness program featured the foundation of the trust for a noble cause for the treatment of patients suffering from chronic ailments such as cancer and other bed-ridden diseases and those who cannot afford expensive treatments who will be offered care for free at their doorsteps. Many prominent members of the Indian community attended the event. Shuhaib Thazate (CEO Al Ryan Group) and doctors also addressed the gathering. The team of HPPCT Jeddah chapter includes Mir Mahmood Ali, Ahmed Abdul Hakeem, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Amer Ghaffar, Mahmood Misri, Syed Abdul Azeez, Shuhaib Thazate, Mirza Shafatullah Baig, Shaikh Zakir Hussain, Syed Afzal and Mirza Qudrath Nawaz Baig Earlier Baig gave a brief presentation to highlight the activities of the trust with palliative Care Support Services. HPPCT was formed by a group of volunteers, established its office in Hyderabad, Telangana, with home care support and will be setting up hospice with the aim of ensuring complete and comprehensive care to helpless human beings suffering from terminal and chronic illnesses. HPPCT has joined hands with PRPCS (MNJ Hospital) and their Hospice Center at Kukatpally in order to avail the hospice facilities for HPPCT patients and expertise in Palliative care such as (doctor, nurses and administrative staff). So far about 1,300 patients have benefited from the above palliative care services since its inception in Sept. 10, 2016.
