A study conducted by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has revealed that 37 percent of optics centers don't have qualified staff and are not classified by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. There are 1,624 optics centers registered by the Ministry of Health. The report found that 53 percent of these centers don't keep patients' information confidential. The SFDA called on the ministry to grant optical licenses only to clinics which have specialized laboratories, to adopt stricter procedures to oversee them and ensure they have safe medical equipment. The SFDA also called on the ministry to ensure they provide quality services. __
