JEDDAH — The JSC Young Soccer League (YSL) Football Tournament 4th Edition is set to get under way this Thursday. The trophy unveiling and fixture releasing ceremony was held at Jeddah Trident Hotel last Saturday. Anand Kumar, Consul, Consular of the Consulate General of India was the chief guest. Other dignitaries included Executive Editor of Saudi Gazette Ramnarayan Iyer, Aqeel Alrishodi of Al Ahli Football Club, Ex-Chairman of IISJ Abdul Raheem, K.T.A, Muneer of Al Abeer Aviation, officials of tournament sponsors, prominent media personnel, principal and other officials of participating school teams, and representatives from various organizations in Jeddah. Speaking at the occasion, Anand Kumar congratulated JSC soccer academy for providing wide range of football training courses locally and at international level. He also praised JSC for conducting various tournaments for young boys, which gives them a healthy platform for competition. He also said that the boys should learn through this platform that competition is key and exceling in that effort was the lesson to be learned. During his speech, Ramnarayan Iyer wished JSC more success and called on them to sustain their activities such that the boys passing through their academy learn the life skills that mirror on the field of football. He commended their effort to take the JSC boys to Italy in order to expose them to new styles of play and culture. He asked them to explore the possibility to enhance its activities in international level. The tournament will kick off this Thursday at Dunk Spanish Academy Ground, near IKEA, Tahlia Street and the finals are scheduled for May 19. This edition will see four senior boys teams and three junior boys teams battling it out to win the coveted YSL Senior and Junior Cups. Apart from JSC academy teams, International Indian School Jeddah, Al Wurood International School, Novel International School and Eritrean International School teams are participating for the tournament. YSL tournament is powered by Jotun. During the event, there was a special video session conducted by JSC Campo Italian team coordinator Fayaz Ibrahim. Trainees and coaches who have recently attended the Italian training camp shared their experiences and lessons learned with the audience. The Trident hotel venue was packed with full capacity to witness the glittering function thereafter a musical night was held with performances by prominent singers of Jeddah.
