Saudi Gazette RIYADH — As part of an intensive security campaign which continued for nine hours, the Riyadh police on Monday confiscated about 16,500 artificial pieces of car spare parts, 3,100 fake kohl containers, 950 pieces of counterfeit accessories, 1,200 bottles of fake perfume and 170 illegal mobile chips. The raid, ordered by Riyadh Emir Prince Faisal Bin Bandar, detained 40 suspicious vehicles and apprehended 76 illegal expatriates of various nationalities who stayed in the Kingdom after the expiry of their Haj, Umrah and visit visas and moved to Riyadh for work. The traffic police, which was part of the campaign, registered 350 traffic violations against a number of motorists. The campaign destroyed 3,500 rotten fish, 31 ton of contaminated fruits and vegetables stored in random houses which were not suitable for human consumption and caught more than 300 sick birds before they were sold out. Twelve shops which were used as warehouses for the contaminated food were closed down in addition to 11 violating shops. The campaign discovered a pastry factory in Manfouha District which was used by a number of illegal expatriates to make sambousa. During the raid, which focused on downtown Riyadh districts, six violations were registered against a number of mobile shops.
