Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The Saudi Society for Contagious Diseases in Children is scheduled to launch an international symposium in Riyadh on Wednesday. Dr. Hani Jokhdar, undersecretary for public health at the Ministry of Health, will inaugurate the two-day symposium at Marriott Hotel. Dr. Sami Al-Hajjar, chairman of the Saudi Society for Contagious Diseases in Children, said many important subjects would be discussed at the symposium. Participants include professors and consultants in contagious diseases among children in the Kingdom and abroad. The symposium will focus on many subjects, such as the most important bacterial diseases and methods of diagnosis, reviewing the programs for combating infection, how to deal with the increase in antibiotic-resistant bacteria and the national and Gulf plans for dealing with them. The symposium will also discuss the basic vaccinations for children, the latest vaccinations and their effectiveness in preventing serious diseases. This symposium is one of the biggest international symposiums organized by the society, which is a nonprofit body established in 2012 under the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties. It has an elite team of professors and consultants, who are experts in fighting contagious diseases among children. The society aims to boost and raise the level of scientific and professional performance in the specialization of contagious diseases among children and ideal ways of diagnosing, treating and preventing them.
