IT is sad that a large number of expatriate workers in our country are here illegally. Many of them have crossed our borders without documents, overstayed their Haj or Umrah visas or were born here to illegal workers. They do not hesitate to violate our laws to earn money by any means. Some of them assault people on the street and rob them. Some try to assault security officers while others sell expired products to the public by repackaging them. Some do not hesitate to slaughter donkeys, monkeys or dogs, cook the meat and sell it to the public as lamb. Some engage in vandalism of public places while others post fake advertisements in public. These illegal practices have been on the increase. They pose grave economic, social and security dangers to our future if our security forces do not take drastic action to nip them in the bud. We need to put an end to these practices before things get out of control. The number of undocumented workers has dramatically increased. I am sure that the concerned authorities are capable of putting an end to these practices. For example, the adverts posted on lampposts, electrical boxes, bridges, etc. all have cell phone numbers on them. It is easy for the authorities to call the person, locate his whereabouts and catch him. We, as citizens, should help the authorities in this mission, and report undocumented workers and Saudis who offer them shelter and help them violate the law. The relevant authorities in charge of expatriate workers and the regulation of the market should find a way to provide a sufficient number of trained workers to ensure that citizens do not hire undocumented workers. I hope that the authorities focus more on undocumented workers and the dangers these workers pose to our society. They are a ticking time bomb that might explode at any minute and bring about disastrous results to society.
