Published in The Saudi Gazette on 05 - 04 - 2017

RIYADH – Indian Ambassador Ahmed Javed stressed on the necessity to create more awareness among the Indian community about the ongoing amnesty announced by the Saudi government.
He was addressing the media at the Indian Embassy. He said that in addition to Riyadh and Jeddah, 21 other centers were set up at different places in the Kingdom. He advised Indians, who are seeking Emergency Certificates, to visit the nearest center and apply for the same.
During the first three days, the Indian Embassy here and Consulate General of India, Jeddah, received a total of 3,655 applications for Emergency Certificates. More than 40% of these applicants are from Uttar Pradesh.
Telangana and Tamil Nadu represents 11% and 10% respectively while people from other states include Kerala (7%), Andhra (5%) and Bihar (4%).
He said that 67% of those visiting the Embassy are under Huroob and the embassy staff are trying to solve their issues as early as possible so that they can proceed to the next step of obtaining exit visa. He also said that the Embassy is trying to send its officers to Jawazat centers to help the Indians in obtaining the exit visa as early as possible.
Javed reiterated that the Matloob (wanted), those who are wanted in any case and those holding valid Iqama and Passport, are not covered in the amnesty. He added that many sponsors are approaching the Embassy to transfer sponsorships.
He appealed to Indians to use the amnesty period to exit and said those Indian nationals who go on final exit through amnesty can come again to Saudi Arabia if they want to work again.
He said centers have been opened throughout the Kingdom to assist Indians, in order for them not to spend time and money in travel while also providing for a hassle-free service to all.
He said that the third day of amnesty witnessed the largest turnout in Riyadh with more than 1,800 Indians visiting the Embassy, which has made arrangements for water, tea and juices for those applying for ECs.
Deputy Chief of Mission Hemant Kotalwar was present along with the Ambassador at the event. Counselor Anil Nautiyal welcomed the gathering.
