RIYADH — The government of India has exempted its nationals stranded in Saudi Arabia without travel documents from paying any fees for the issuance of the one-time exit pass known as the Emergency Certificate (EC), the Indian Embassy said on Tuesday. It said a Gazette of India notification had been issued on these lines on May 13. “This waiver shall be applicable only for those who have applied for ECs during the grace period announced by the Saudi authorities,” an embassy statement said. Applicants shall have to submit an additional application indicating their wish to avail of this waiver. A format of the application is available at the Embassy of India website www.indianembassy.org.sa. “Those who have already applied can submit this additional application while collecting their ECs,” the statement said. The embassy meanwhile has released a list of 2,528 EC applicants whose passports are available with the embassy. — SG
