JEDDAH — Some 20 private institutions are now participating in the Prince Khalid Al-Faisal's initiative "how to be a role model". Aisha Bakurma, head of the female private training in Jeddah, said that the participating institutes are offering free training courses. These courses are authorized by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), she added. The initiative, she said, included 104 private high schools and targeted 6,377 female students. Bakurma said they are targeting 170 female high schools in total. The initiative also includes females with disabilities and is offering course in interpreting sign language, she said. The education department in Jeddah has announced earlier that it has launched 5 programs to meet the expectations of this initiative and that it is targeting 750,000 students and 55,000 teachers of both genders. These programs include: strengthening principles, values competition, how to be positive, follow ancestors' steps and dialogue seminars. These initiatives are part of a campaign of the Makkah culture forum under the theme "how to be a role model" announced last October by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, emir of Makkah region.
