Harry Kane's superb scoring streak continued as Tottenham Hotspur survived some late nerves to beat Everton 3-2 at White Hart Lane Sunday and cut Chelsea's lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points. Kane went to the top of the Premier League scoring charts with a goal in each half to take his tally for the season to 19 — one more than Everton's Romelu Lukaku whose 80th-minute goal sparked a lively finale. Second-placed Tottenham's ninth consecutive home league victory took it to 56 points from 27 games. Chelsea, which faces a tricky London derby at West Ham United Monday, has 63. Despite Kane's marksmanship, it still needed a crafty stoppage-time goal from Dele Alli to make sure of the points, with Enner Valencia stabbing in an even later consolation for Everton whose nine-game unbeaten league run was ended. In a late match, Manchester City maintained its pursuit of Premier League leader Chelsea with a comfortable 2-0 victory at bottom club Sunderland. Sergio Aguero's close-range effort separated the sides at halftime and Leroy Sane gave City breathing space with a fine finish just before the hour mark at the Stadium of Light. City remains third with 55 points from 26 games, eight behind. Sunderland had done a decent job at containing City and Jermain Defoe struck the post but Pep Guardiola's side went ahead after 42 minutes when Aguero nipped in to dink Raheem Sterling's cross into the net. Sane effectively sealed a fourth consecutive league win for City when he fired home after being played in by David Silva. Sunderland offered little threat after that and remains bottom with only 19 points — six adrift of safety. — Reuters
