Ma'aden Phosphate Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian Mining Company, Ma'aden, recently signed an agreement with the non-profit organization Ita'am (Saudi Food Bank) to provide surplus food from Ras Al Khair Industrial City for distribution to charities. The agreement aims to help feed the underprivileged and raise awareness about food preservation. The agreement was signed by MPC President Eng. Hassan Ali and Faisal Al Shoshan, Executive Director of Ita'am in the Eastern Province, in the presence of senior MPC and Ita'am executives. The signing was preceded by a presentation about Ita'am and its role in serving the community. Ita'am General Manager Abdulaziz Al Naghaither expressed his thanks and appreciation of Ma'aden Phosphate's generous support, underlining the need to raise awareness on the importance of food preservation and how best to benefit from excess food. The agreement is in line with Ma'aden's ongoing commitment towards sustainability and follows a number of social responsibility initiatives implemented by Ma'aden over the years in communities where it operates. In 2016, Ma'aden allocated SR28 million for community initiatives, with about 55% distributed to various community development efforts and 35% on education and training. To date, Ma'aden has implemented approximately 24 community driven initiatives, 17 of which are still ongoing. — SG
