JEDDAH — The stimulating one-week Danube Italian Food Festival is finally coming to a close today (Feb. 14) at Danube Serafi Mall, where Chef Massimo Sgobba, world's leading Italian chef, showcases some of his famous Italian cuisine. The second Italian Food Festival in the Kingdom gives tons of discounts on products like groceries, fruits, vegetables, chocolates and much more. Speaking to Saudi Gazette, Andrew Holmes, operation director for Danube, said "this event is all about a 22 events we are going to put in on to the whole kingdom, this is the second one, the whole thing behind this is trying to bring more education about the foods around the world to our customers, let people try the food and just to understand what they can do with a lot of products that we can bring for them import from different countries." He added that "this is about Italian food... about the drinks and coffee...all the different kinds of drinks and coffee around the world." He added that "we have various events like American food, etc, over the year." According to him, they are planning to organize these events all over the kingdom like Riyadh, Dammam, Jizan and Al-Khobar and at different outlets of Danube Superstore in Jeddah as well. "Hopefully we bring some culinary ideas for people in Saudi Arabia," added Holmes. Chef Massimo Sgobba, an ambassador of Italian food all over the world, said "I bring Italian food for the people here to taste and try. Italian food is different as its Mediterranean food. It is light and healthy. This is my first visit to Saudi Arabia and happy to be here." Chef Massimo Sgobba demonstrates some of the famous southern Italian cuisine with eggplant, mozzarella cheese and pasta. Danube, aside from these events, also offers promotional deals, weekly deals, and special deals.
