CAIRO — The story of an Egyptian woman in her 70s saying "I do" with her young husband man has taken Egyptian social media by a storm. The Egyptian woman decided to have what some in Egypt call a "theatrical marriage", meaning that she booked a wedding hall for the ceremony, put on a white dress with the help of a young man who was sympathetic with her mental condition. Egyptian authorities arrested her and intend to admit her into a psychiatric clinic for treatment. Her relatives had confirmed that she was suffering from mental illness especially after the passing of her mother years ago. Ever since, she started living by herself and became a source of trouble. A neighbor stressed that the police arrested her inside her home after her story and pictures went viral on social media. He added that the security forces only agreed to release her after relatives vowed that such behavior would not happen again. Her neighborhood residents were sympathetic to her condition and had staged a demonstration in solidarity at the Raml station after her arrest. — Al Arabiya English
