Zahrani and Abdullah Al-Ghamdi RIYADH — A total of 200 Saudis have been reinstated in the Ministry of Education after an administrative mistake forced them to leave their jobs. A spokesman of the fired employees Hussain Al-Qahtani said the 200 employees were fired following an error in the administrative process. "Many of them were employed for more than 10 months and they had quit their jobs at the private sector to join the ministry thinking they will find increased job security in the public sector. The first batch of 83 employees got fired in January 2013 followed by 71 others six months later. The employees kept getting fired until their number reached 200," said Al-Qahtani. He added the fired employees filed a complaint with the Minister of Civil Service Khalid Al-Araj. "The minister welcomed the employees and promised them to solve their case. Later, the employees received the news that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques had listened to their complaints and ordered the Ministry of Education to form a committee to look into the possibility of reemploying all fired employees," said Al-Qahtani. He said all employees were subsequently reinstated based on their educational qualifications. "The committee consisted of representatives from the Ministry of Civil Service, the Ministry of Finance and the Control and Investigation Board. The employees are either reinstated directly by the Ministry of Education or through various schools in the Kingdom," said Al-Qahtani.
