A total of 32 government directorates are working to achieve a total of 1,148 projects within the next year, Al-Madina reported. A source said the investment cost of these projects combined reaches SR3 billion. "Municipalities, universities, directorates and commissions are all working hard to achieve their ambitious goals. The city has already achieved 39 percent of the planned projects. Over 20 percent of the planned projects are of big scale, 36.84 of the planned projects are of medium scale and 42 percent of the planned projects are of small scale," said the source. The source also said two of the newest projects are repairing the tunnels and bridges in the first roundabout area and the project of the consultation on the city's infrastructure. "These two projects cost SR16 million. Other projects include the Madinah shuttles project which costs SR78.9 million, organizing and developing King Faisal Road which costs SR57 million. The Islamic University in Madinah will also be working on new projects for the upcoming year," said the source. The source added the university has 13 projects to be done on the university's campus. "The university will establish an information center and a language institute. These projects will cost SR100 million. Taibah University also has a few projects including building 13 apartment buildings for students residence. This project will cost SR156 million," said the source. The source also said the College of Medicine will also open a university hospital which will have the capacity of 400 beds. The project will cost SR0.5 billion. "The city will also work on health sector projects. There will be a mental health hospital built in Yanbu. The project will cost SR200 million. There will also be a dentistry center in Yanbu. The project will cost SR25 million. There will also be new hospitals built such as Al-Mahd Hospital and Badr Public Hospital. Each one of them has the capacity of 200 beds," said the source. The source also said building these two hospitals will cost SR700. "The city will also build King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital with the capacity of 500 beds and Childbirth and Maternity Hospital with the capacity for 400 beds. The projects will cost SR40 billion. King Abdulaziz Dialysis Center will also be renovated for over SR1 million," said the source. The source also said there are also developmental projects such as building playing fields and public parks which will cost SR9 million.
