MADINAH — Construction work on the second phase of King Abdullah's SR50 billion Haj terminal project in Madinah has started. During this phase, the administrative facilities will be built. They will accommodate more than 31,000 employees. During the first phase, the basic infrastructures have been completed and the third stage will witness the construction of residential buildings. The project is a modern and advanced city to be built according to international standards and specifications. It will consist of train stations to link the Prophet's Mosque with Qiba mosque and other areas. It will also have markets, restaurants offices for government ministries and the Haj and medical missions of other countries, a mosque accommodating more than 15,000 worshippers and other small mosques. The city will have 100 tower buildings of 20 stories each for offices and hotels. It will have a 400-bed hospital and other utilities. The project will occupy an area of 1.6 million square meters and is located about three kilometers to the south of the Prophet's Mosque. The city's hotels will be four to five stars and will together have a combined capacity 40,000 rooms.
