Muslims can purify their souls and achieve success by following the dictates of Allah as revealed in the Holy Qur'an, said Sheikh Dr. Osama Bin Abdullah Khayat, Imam and Khateeb of the Grand Mosque in his Friday sermon. Meanwhile, Sheikh Hussain Bin Abdul Aziz Aal Al-Sheikh, Imam and Khateeb of the Prophet's Mosque, said in his Friday sermon that Muslim parents must distribute their property and wealth to their children, rather than donate it to charity, because this causes hatred and infighting in families later. Khayat, at the Grand Mosque, urged Muslims to follow Allah's revelations in the Holy Qur'an and the Prophet's Sunnah. They will only be able to attain happiness and peace of mind by doing so, Sheikh Khayat said. “The road to purification and piety leads to success while the road to failure is the commission of sins that contaminate the heart. To purify one's heart, a Muslim should testify that there is no god but Allah the Almighty, Who alone ordains the destiny of all creatures.” Muslims should always mention the name of Allah the Almighty because by doing so they are renewing their faith, purifying their hearts and becoming humble, he said. He said Muslims must also follow the path of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and perform all religious obligations to get closer to Allah the Almighty. Repentance is another way to purify the heart and the soul because Allah loves those who repent. Aal Al-Sheikh, at the Prophet's Mosque, said: “Some parents prevent their sons and daughters from disposing of their property after their death because of their desire to endow the property. Therefore their heirs cannot resell or transfer the ownership of the property. This is inadvisable because it causes hatred, friction and disputes between family members.” Also, some fathers favor some of their children more than others when it comes to their property. This is haram because it is against the principles of justice advocated by Almighty Allah in the Holy Qur'an. Muslims should remember Allah and justly distribute and divide their inheritance among their heirs, he said.
