Islanders forward John Tavares is a first-time NHL All-Star, and he can thank the Carolina Hurricanes for being a big part of his success. In the first game since the All-Star break, Tavares had two goals and two assists in the NY Islanders' 5-2 victory over the Hurricanes Tuesday. Tavares has 9 of his 53 points this season against Carolina. Tavares scored the winner at 7 minutes 36 seconds of the third period and later added the second of the Islanders' two empty-netters.
