Japanese Economic Meeting started here today. It is aimed at reinforcing bilateral economic relations and creating more partnership, business and investment opportunities between the Saudi and Japanese business sectors. About 200 businessmen from both the countries are participating in the event which is being organized by the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Japanese Cooperation Center for Middle East (JCCME) and the Japanese Foreign Trade Organization (JFTO). Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabeah, Minister of Commerce and Industry, who is leading the Kingdom's delegation, said the Saudi delegation consists of big companies specializing in different fields to forge and strengthen economic relations between both the countries. The event is being attended by Saudi and Japanese company directors, Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano, Chairman of Council of Chambers of Commerce Abdulrahman Al-Jaraisi and the Saudi Ambassador to Japan Dr. Abdul Aziz Bin Abdul Sattar Turkistani. The agenda of the meeting includes discussions on Saudi-Japanese cooperation in water, education, human resources development and improving investment environment. Other sessions will deal with transformational industries, healthcare and the role of investment in developing the health sector. Finally a number of agreements will also be signed to develop strategic partnerships between the two countries.
