Saudi Arabia's garment market is valued at SR8 billion, Mazen Batterjee, Deputy Chairman of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI), said. The Kingdom each year imports more than 85,000 tons of garment items, 90 percent of which come from European and Asian countries like France, Italy, China and Taiwan, while Arab countries like Egypt and Syria contribute only 10 percent of the same, he said during the four-day international exhibition “Moda Expo” on textiles, garments and fashion held in Jeddah. Around 80 domestic and foreign firms specializing in garment production participated in the four-day expo. Egyptian and Syrian firms were among those companies which showcased their latest collections of menswear, womenswear, kidswear and sportswear. The JCCI official said that such expos are meant to improve the economic and investment relations between the Kingdom and other nations.
