day global shoe exhibition was opened by the Secretary General of the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday. Nearly 5,000 different types of shoes from 50 global shoe companies were on show at the event, which was launched at the Jeddah Radisson Hotel. The exhibition, organized by Al-Dagal Company, was the first of its kind in the Kingdom. “It was a resounding success because many global brands from China, Italy, Egypt, Lebanon, and Syria participated in the exhibition,” said Dr. Khaled Al-Dagal, director of Al-Dagal Company. At the event, JCCI's Secretary General Adnan Mandoura promised to support the Saudi shoe industry. He revealed that the JCCI Committee of Leather and Dying Industry will work to identify the needs of the local market and develop the shoe industry. “The Saudi industry has attained international levels (of expertise) despite the fact that the leather and dying industry is still in its early stages in the Kingdom,” he said. The Saudi shoe market is worth an estimated SR3 billion, with two million pairs of shoes being produced by 100 manufacturers in the Kingdom every year. __
