RIYADH — Prominent and popular anchor of the literary and cultural events known for his unique style Javed Ali Afroz and his colleague, another famous poet Zafar Mahmood, organized a poetic evening at Green Crescent Hospital Riyadh. Many representatives from different associations in Riyadh attended this event titled "Reet iss nagar ki hai". The show began with the recitation of verses of the Holy Qur'an by Hafiz Khaja Aleemuddin and the Naat recited by the Poet Zafar Mahmood. The evening had two segments of prose and poetry sessions. Javed Ali read his humorous article about the wrong usage of language titled "angrezi aur deegar zabanon ki aisi ki taisi" and Khaja Masiuddin Abu Nabeel read out his short story about the issue of tolerance. The poetry session was presided by professor Iqbal Ejaz. He said that very few associations are putting their efforts to promote Urdu language and poetry in Riyadh. On this occasion Zafar Mahmood presented his father Hafeez Banarsi's poetic collection "Safeere e Shaher e Dil" to Javed Ali. Chief guests Abdul Rahman Saleem, president Hindustani Bazme Urdu, and Mohammed Quaiser, president, Tanzeem Hum Hindustani, started the poetry session that followed the lighting of the lamp. In this poetry session Indian and Pakistani poets from Riyadh and Dammam presented their poetry in their own style. Prof. Iqbal Ejaz, Ayub Tishna, Chowdry Mansur, Syed Akthar Falabi, Khaja Masiuddin Abu Nabil, Rizwan ul Haq, Shoukat Jamal, Hisham Syed, Kursheed ul Hassan Nayyer, Dawood Uslubi, Sadaf Fareedi and Dr. Shafq Nadvi grabbed the audience's attention with their renderings till late night.
