TVTV, Huawei collaborate to enrich Kingdom's labor market
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 08 - 11 - 2016

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has presented 10 Saudi Technical and Vocation Training Corporation (TVTC) instructors with certification for advanced mobile maintenance training following an intensive skills development program. TVTC's Gov. Ahmed Alfahaid was present during the graduation ceremony to personally congratulate the instructors at Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China.
During his visit Alfahaid said, "Our ongoing partnership continues to allow Saudi instructors and students to gain valuable training and knowledge from Huawei's global expertise. This is important as our hardworking instructors are crucial for companies to comply with new regulations based on evolving labor market policies and changing industry trends. This collaboration falls in line with the developments that will drive Saudi Arabia towards Vision 2030."
Responding to the national plan to localize the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom; Huawei conducted the mobile maintenance training for 100 TVTC instructors in four major cities of the Kingdom: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Abha last summer. Then 10 of TVTC top instructors were hosted at Huawei headquarters in China from June 24 to Nov. 4 of this year to take part in an advanced two-week mobile maintenance training program.
Li Xiangbin, VP of global government affairs at Huawei, said: "Huawei is keen to support Saudi Arabia through sustainable growth. The Vision 2030 will require local resource and talent to drive the successful implementation of the plan. We are happy to support the Kingdom through ICT developments to move towards a true knowledge economy. Our continued work with TVTC is a testament to our commitment to a better connected society in Saudi Arabia which looks to the development of its' ICT industry from the grassroots level."
The global market for Consumer Electronics continues to gain momentum, despite slower economic growth across other sectors. According to Grand View Research, Smartphones are expected to represent over 60% of the overall revenue by 2020. — SG
Huawei has worked closely with renowned public and private sector entities in Saudi Arabia for close to two decades, both as a key driver of ICT innovation and as a significant employer of local talent within the private sector. This has included partnerships with leading Saudi universities and the opening of Joint Innovation Centers. Huawei also runs its annual ‘Seeds for the Future' CSR program in the Kingdom, offering 15-20 select students each year the opportunity to develop practical skills that will prepare them for a successful career in the ICT industry. — SG
