Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Choudhry Mohammed Azam, Choudhry Mohammed Akram, Mian Mohammed Minsha and Amir Mohammed Khan, chairman Pakistan Journalist Forum (PJF), hosted a prayer meeting for Aziz Ahmed at Spicy Village (Lasani) restaurant recently. Aziz Ahmed, 74, died on Oct, 15 at a medical center after a long battle with kidney disease. His death triggered a massive outpouring of grief across the Pakistani and Indian community in Saudi Arabia. He was laid to rest at the Maqbarah Rehma Al-Feha district. Large number of community members and well wishers attended the prayer meeting. Najeeb Khan, vice welfare consul at Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah, said that we have lost a true and patriotic Pakistani. He was an organization in itself and a dynamic personality. Other noted community figures included Tariq Asghar, Qari Irshad, Choudhry Ashfaq, Ather Asad Akram, Ather Abbasi, Syed Nasir Hussain Gardazi, Mohammed Amil Usmani, Qasim Naqvi, Inayat Jara, Masood Puri, Mussarat Khalil, Shams uddin Altaf, Yousuf Pervez and Liaqat Anjum said Aziz was an iconic social worker and philanthropist. He dedicated his entire life to community welfare. His welfare and activities in Pakistan and outside Pakistan are characterized by selfless service. The meeting started with the recitation of verses from Holy Qur'an by Qari Mohammed Asif. Naat was presented by Sher Afzal and Kalam-e-Iqbal by Mohammed Nawaz Junjua. In the opening remarks hosts Choudhry Azam, Choudhry Akram, Main Mohammed Minsha and Amir Mohammed Khan said Aziz had multifarious qualities. It is difficult to mention all his qualities and personality in this short time. At the end Moulana Habib-ur-Rehman made supplications for departed soul of Aziz Ahmed and sought courage for the family to bear this loss.
