RIYADH – The Shoura Council on Tuesday approved the draft education law for people with special needs. The Council session, chaired by Deputy President Muhammad Al-Jafri, also endorsed creating a new Agency of Education for Special Needs People at the Ministry of Education. Yahya Al-Samaan, assistant president of the Council, said that the draft law, presented by Dr. Nasser Al-Mousa, a member of the Council, consists of 23 articles. The Council passed the law after making necessary changes in line with the viewpoints of its committee of education and scientific research as well as the opinions of Council members. The law aims at providing appropriate environment for education, training and rehabilitation of the boy and girl students with special needs in all age groups, in addition to fulfilling their educational needs. The rules of the law will be applicable to all government and private educational and training agencies and institutions at all phases and specializations of education, Al-Samaan said.
