Saudi Arabia team under the Saudi Cricket Center (SCC) development program participated in the Quadrangular T20 Championship in Nairobi, Kenya, recently. The tournament was played on league basis with the final between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, the top two teams. Cricket fraternity in Saudi Arabia enjoyed the live stream of all the matches arranged by Saudi Cricket in coordination with Zuku Sports Channel of Kenya. Saudi team won the final against Qatar by seven wickets with superb batting display by Abdul Waheed, who hit an unbeaten 98. Abdul Waheed was awarded the Best Batsman of the Tournament and the Man of the Final, While Ibrar Ul Haq grabbed the Best Bowler and Mohammad Afzal, Best Player, honors. In the final, Saudi Arabia won the toss and put Qatar into bat. Qatar posted 162 for nine in 20 overs. Inam Ul Haq made 43, Noman Sarwar 14, Imran Ashraf 32 and Mujeeb Ul Rehman 16. Ibrar Ul Haq took three wickets, Shoab Ali two while Roheel, Waqas and Mohammad Afzal took a wicket each for the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia was home (166) in 18 overs for the loss of two wickets. Abdul Waheed was not out on 98 off 58 balls (14 Four and 2 Sixes). Hamad Saeed (26), Anyat (22) and Mazhar Abbasi (10) made useful contributions. Mujeeb Ul Rehman, Iqbal Hussain and Mohammad Nadeem took a wicket each for Qatar. Abdul Waheed was adjudged the Player of the Final. Earlier in the first match of the league, Saudi Arabia beat Uganda by 31 runs. Put into bat, Saudi Arabia scored 179 for four. Abdul Waheed (71), Nadeem Javed (33), Mazhar Abbasi (24), Ibrar Ul Haq (23) and Anayat Saeed (13) were among the top batsmen. In response, Uganda could manage only 148 for eight. HB Kayondo (29), RG Mukasa (24) and F. Nsubuga (22) were the main contributors. Waqas Akram claimed 2 wickets, while Ibrar Ul Haq, Rohail, Mohammad Afzal and Nadeem Javed took a wicket each. In the Second match, Saudi Arabia beat Kenya by 39 runs. Asked to bat first, Saudi Arabia scored 123. Mohammad Afzal (32), Ghulam Mustafa (26), Shahnawaz (20) Abdul Waheed (18) and Muzafar Majeed (16) were among the runs. Nelson Odhiambo took three wickets and SO Ngoche two. In response, the Kenyan Team was all out for 84 in 17 overs. SO Ngoche was the top scorer with 22. Ibrar Ul Haq took three wickets while Roheel, Mohammad Afzal and Waqas Akram took two wickets each. In another encounter, Saudi Arabia downed Qatar by 36 runs. Saudi Arabia scored 175 with Shoaib Ali making 54, Mohammad Afzal 54, Abdul Waheed 25 and Mazhar Abbasi 17. Mohammad Owais and Tamoor took two wickets each. In response, Qatar could manage only 139 with Faisal Javed top scoring with 51. Mazhar Abbasi and Mohammad Afzal took two wickets each, while Ibrar Ul Haq, Rohail, Waqas Akram and Shoaib Ali took a wicket each.
