Arsenal seals move for Spanish striker Perez
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 31 - 08 - 2016

Arsenal has completed a deal to sign Spanish striker Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna, the Premier League club announced Tuesday.
Arsenal did not disclose either the length of Perez's contract or the transfer fee, but British media reports said the 27-year-old had cost around 17 million pounds ($22.3 million).
Arsenal is also believed to be close to signing Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia for around 35 million pounds.
Discussing Perez, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told the club website: "He's not only a goalscorer, he's a guy who combines well with partners, who can give a final ball and makes good runs.
"He's got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year."
Arsenal is reported to have seen off competition from Premier League rivals Everton to secure Perez's signature.
Perez, who is uncapped, scored 19 goals for Deportivo last season, including 17 in La Liga.
He also scored the winning goal in its 2-1 win over Eibar on the opening day of this season.
He began his career with Atletico Madrid's C team and has also played for Rayo Vallecano, Ukrainian side Karpaty Lviv and Greek club PAOK.
Perez follows Swiss international midfielder Granit Xhaka, Japanese forward Takuma Asano and young English center-back Rob Holding in arriving at Arsenal during the mid-year transfer window.
Runner-up to Leicester City last season, Arsenal is eighth in the table after three matches of the new campaign.
Aguero charged by FA with violent conduct
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been charged with violent conduct over an incident involving West Ham United defender Winston Reid, the FA said in a statement Tuesday.
The Argentine international now faces a three-match ban that would see him miss Premier League games against Manchester United and Bournemouth and a League Cup third-round tie against Swansea City.
Aguero appeared to elbow Reid in the head Sunday, a Premier League game City won 3-1. The incident was not seen by match officials so the FA has taken retrospective action.
On Monday, Aguero withdrew from the World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela due to a calf injury.
Argentina hosts Uruguay Thursday and then visits Venezuela five days later.
