Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The Ministry of Justice has reported two cases of alimony worth SR506,000 in Jeddah and Taif. A source said Taif General Court has dealt with an alimony lawsuit filed by a divorcee against her former husband and the father of her children. "The court ruled in favor of the mother by obliging the father to pay SR360,000 in alimony fund. The alimony will cover the expenses the father should have paid throughout the past years and what the mother had spent to support her children," said the source. The source also said the father refused to comply with the court's ruling. "The father refused the court's ruling for four months until the court stopped his electronic services. He then issued a check for SR360,000," said the source. The source also said Jeddah General Court had also dealt with an alimony lawsuit. "The court ordered the ex-husband to pay SR146,000 to his divorcee and their children. The court also obliged the ex-husband to pay SR2,000 monthly. The monthly alimony is doubled during Eid. The ex-husband is also expected to cover the health insurance of the children," said the source. The source also said the general courts in the Kingdom have dealt with alimony cases against a total of 2,964 husbands and ex-husbands during this year.
