JEDDAH — "Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah has been serving Urdu lovers selflessly. It is a good literary platform for the children too. The children's participation in this forum, bears testimony to the fact that we can still save our children from the epidemic of the mobile phones by engaging them in educational activities," said Nadir Sargiroh, while adding, "For more than three decades Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah has been organizing literary seminars, opening ceremony of books for writers and poets and organizing Mushairahs. Its educational activities and weekly lectures on the teachings of the noble Qur'an are helping the children and grown-ups alike." Nadir is a Jeddah-based Indian Urdu satirist. Sargiroh chaired the event organized by Majlis-e-Ilm-o-Adab, Jeddah in which the poets and lovers of Urdu literature and poetry participated. The first session of the event began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur'an by young children Ammar Sargiroh, Syed Mubashshir, Sobiah Nadeem and Syed Mustafa. Famous poet Zahoori's Naat was recited by Muhammad Jamil Faisalabadi. The second session began with the recitation of Iqbal's famous Ghazal "Kabhi Ai Haqiqat e Muntazir Nazar Aa Libas e Majaz Men" by Syed Mustafa Faizan. Pakistani poet Zulfiqar Adil's poetry collection "Sharq Mere Shumal Men" was reviewed by Mujahid Syed. "Zulfiqar Adil's poetry is a happy blend of the tradition and innovation," Mujahid Syed said. Faisal Tufail, Syed Faizan and other participants agreed with the views expressed in the review. Tufail and Mujahid recited their Naats too. The program concluded with the supplication of Nadeem Iftekhar.
