Mario Balotelli scored the winner with a stoppage-time penalty as Premier League leader Manchester City beat title rival Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 Sunday but Manchester United remained snapping at its heels with a 2-1 victory at Arsenal. City's 100 percent home record seemed about to end after Tottenham recovered from a two-goal deficit in a mad nine-minute spell midway through the second half. The host had gone ahead in the 56th minute through Samir Nasri and doubled its lead three minutes later courtesy of Joleon Lescott's bundled effort. Spurs got themselves right back in it with a Jermain Defoe goal on 60 minutes after a blunder by City defender Stefan Savic followed five minutes later by an exquisite Gareth Bale strike. The visitors were a whisker away from grabbing all the points in stoppage time when Defoe went agonizingly wide with the goal gaping but City made the most of its chance at the other end when Ledley King brought down Balotelli. The Italian substitute, who Spurs manager Harry Redknapp felt should not still have been on the pitch after appearing to stamp on Scott Parker earlier, converted calmly to send the packed stadium into raptures. City moved to 54 points from 22 games, with second-placed Manchester United on 51. Spurs stay third with 46. United made it another Manchester double over north London when they won a rather less dramatic but equally exciting game at the Emirates to leave Arsenal a distant fifth after a third consecutive league defeat. United followed City's fortunate win over Spurs with goals from Antonio Valencia and Danny Welbeck sandwiched either side of Robin van Persie's equalizer for the home side. Milan, Udinese keep up pressure on Juventus AC Milan took its time but eventually eased past bottom side Novara 3-0 to stay on the tail of leader Juventus in Serie A Sunday while third-placed Udinese also won. Champion Milan, which needed extra time to beat Novara 2-1 in the Italian Cup in midweek, was fearing another difficult encounter at its near neighbor after having two efforts cleared off the line in the first half. However, Zlatan Ibrahimovic emphatically broke the deadlock 12 minutes into the second period following Massimo Ambrosini's assist before Robinho doubled the advantage and Swede Ibrahimovic rounded off the scoring late on. Juve scored a 2-0 win at Atalanta Saturday but Milan remains just a point behind. Udinese is two points further back after a 2-1 victory at home to Catania. Seventh-placed Napoli continued its inconsistent Serie A form with a 1-1 draw at lowly Siena. In other results, Palermo thumped Genoa 5-3, Alberto Paloschi put Chievo 2-0 up but Lecce grabbed a draw while Bologna against Parma ended in a 0-0 stalemate. Dortmund crushes Hamburg Champion Borussia Dortmund demolished host Hamburg SV 5-1 with two goals each from Robert Lewandowski and Jakub Blaszczykowski Sunday to join leader Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 at the top of the Bundesliga on 37 points. Its performance was a warning to title favorite Bayern that any slip-up, such as its 3-1 defeat to Borussia Moenchengladbach Friday would be costly. Schalke is third, also on 37, with a 3-1 win over VfB Stuttgart Saturday. In the only other match Sunday, Champions League competitor Bayer Leverkusen saw its two-goal lead evaporate in three minutes. Lars Bender's header in the 70th rescued a 3-2 win over Mainz 05 to lift it to 29 points in sixth place.
