The request for the young man's organs came from the Saudi Organ Transplant Center (SOTC). A medical team from the SOTC had asked an official in charge of organ transplants at King Fahd Hospital here, to ask the family to donate his organs for the sake of Almighty Allah, said the brother of the dead youngster. “My parents were convinced and decided to donate my brother's organs as an act of charity for him.” Majed Aal Shatti, media spokesman of Al-Baha Health Affairs, said that a SOTC medical team arrived Saturday aboard a helicopter. The team had 10 technicians and heart, kidney and liver surgery consultants from the center and King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Riyadh. This followed the directives of Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Defense, to have the organs removed from the body of the donor. Faisal Shaheen, SOTC director, offered his condolences to the family and prayed that Allah the Almighty will reward them for their act and bestow His mercy on their deceased son. Shaheen also thanked Prince Salman for providing a medevac helicopter. He also lauded the efforts of Abdul Hameed Al-Ghamdi, Director of Al-Baha Health Affairs. __
