Prince Sultan Aviation Academy has achieved a record increase in the number of trainees during the first half of 2016. There are 11,000 trainees from various sectors as well as from Saudi Arabian Airlines, in addition to other local and international aviation companies, president of the academy Capt. Badr Al-Olayan said. There has been an increase of 28 percent in the number of trainees while comparing with the same period last year, he noted. The academy has also recorded a jump in its operational efficiency, he added. He further said there was also a huge increase in the number of training hours during the first half of the current year, reaching 27,216 hours, an increase of 30 percent against the same period last year. The academy, which is the official flight school of Saudia for various aviation courses, has upgraded its quality certificate from ISO9001: 2008 to ISO9001: 2015. Al-Olayan said the strategic academic plan of the academy consists of various initiatives and academic development programs. "Keeping pace with the National Transformation Program on the basis of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, the academy has prepared strategic plan with performance evaluation indexes in four pivotal areas of finance, customers, education and growth, and internal procedures," he said, adding that the plan aims at developing the academy into a world-class training center specialized in the aviation traffic industry, giving specialized training in line with the highly advanced global criteria. The academy provides flight crew ground training, flight safety training, and aviation support services training among many of its activities.
