Saudi authorities on Wednesday executed a man convicted of murder in the southwestern coastal city of Qunfudah, the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting an Interior Ministry statement. Hassan Bin Mubarak Al-Amri was convicted of stabbing to death fellow Saudi Jahran Al-Issa following a dispute, the statement said. Saudi Arabia imposes the death penalty for offenses including murder, drug trafficking, armed robbery, rape and apostasy. Murder and drug trafficking cases account for the majority of executions. Saudi citizen Ali Assiri, who was found guilty of stabbing a fellow tribesman to death, was executed in the southwestern region of Asir on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry said. Also on Tuesday, Pakistani Mohammed Mokhtar, who was convicted of heroin trafficking, was executed in the eastern city of Dammam. The authorities executed a murderer in the holy city of Makkah on Sunday, the first death sentence to be carried out since the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. Fahd Al-Hasni, a Saudi, was put to death after being convicted of stabbing dead a fellow citizen.
