JCI, CAP renew accreditations of Al Borg Medical Laboratories
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 18 - 07 - 2016

THE College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the Joint Commission International (JCI), have renewed their accreditation of Al Borg Medical Laboratories to apply all the international standards and quality requirements, which have been re-evaluated in the field by the Commission's experts; which makes Al Borg Laboratories as the most trusted laboratories in the region and grows the list of achievements accomplished by the Al Borg Laboratories.
The company's Medical Director Dr. Hisham Shams Maher said: "A delegation from both corporations visited the Al Borg Laboratories, including a visit to Al Borg Laboratory in Jazan as the first laboratory to ensure the maintenance of the accreditation requirements, and the application of the American Corporation's standards. A team made a visit to all the departments where they met with the heads of departments, the laboratories' employees and listened to the steps they have made in the development of the action plans and their implementation of policies, procedures and standards approved by the American Corporation."
He also said: We are delighted to get again the renewal of the accreditation of our laboratories by these international organizations; as these accreditations are in line with the company's strategy to provide diagnostic services in accordance with the highest international quality standards at the lowest cost; enabling customers and patients to obtain our services in all the countries in which we operate and with levels not less than its counterparts in the developed countries. These successes would have not been possible without the support of health affairs in the different regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which support the health directions that aim to provide health welfare for the citizens and residents by providing the best trusted services in accordance with the international standards.
He added: This renewal requires full commitment to ensure the provision of the highest standards of laboratory services to all patients, physicians and the general public. This new achievement is the fruit of teamwork efforts; as Al Borg Laboratory in Dammam was able to achieve the requirements that qualify it to obtain this international accreditation in terms of the nature of the administrative work, quality control and performance improvement; in addition to the laboratory and safety equipment, along with other accreditation requirements.
By the year 2020 with God willing, we look forward to obtain the international accreditation for all Al Borg Medical Laboratories scattered in 8 countries at the level of Arabian Gulf and Africa, whether from JCI or CAP, which requires us to exert all efforts and provide the highest laboratory service levels to accomplish this academic achievement; and this renewal confirms that the quality practices are a continuous process and a daily system that have become a lifestyle for workers in our laboratories.
Also many of our laboratories, which have obtained the international accreditation, have renewed the accreditation to assure that quality practices were not born in the spur of the moment, but are an ongoing process and a regular system in our laboratories; as 7 laboratories in Jeddah, Riyadh and Khamis Mushait, Dammam, Oman, Qatar and the UAE have obtained the accreditation and its renewal from the Joint Commission International – JCI. Furthermore, 3 other laboratories have obtained the accreditation and its renewal in Jeddah and Dammam and Abu Dhabi from the American College of Pathologists (CAP), and we have two laboratories in Dubai and Abu Dhabi that have obtained the ISO 15189 Certificate.
