A man charged with the rape of a number of young girls has asked the Jeddah General Court to summon witnesses against him.In a statement on Wednesday, the man denied all charges against him and said the evidence against him only serves to prove his innocence. The defendant faces the death penalty for kidnapping and raping eight girls who were between six and 12 years of age. However, he says one of these victims described him wrongly as a man with a brown complexion, which contradicts the other girl's statements. “The DNA evidence was fabricated against me and some accusations did not have any type of evidence,” he said, according to a report in Al-Yawm newspaper. He also pointed out that some charges were leveled at him while he was outside the Kingdom. He insisted the charges were fabrications and said that some of the reports indicated that the real criminal had two partners. He also pointed out that a person was accused eight months ago by the court for the same charges and was later acquitted. The Prosecutor General has requested the death sentence be rendered, but the accused has requested the court to drop charges and scrutinize the evidence against him. The court adjourned the session until next week.
