RIYADH — Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, Chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, said Thursday his foundation would donate $500,000 to support the UN World Food Program to assist the Mauritanian people. The announcement came during a meeting with Dr. Mohamed Ould Mohamed Ould Abah, Ambassador of Mauritania to Saudi Arabia, and Saud Bin Abdulaziz Al-Jabri, Saudi Ambassador to Mauritania, at the prince's office in Riyadh. Mauritania is experiencing a drought that has affected over 25 percent of the population. Previous donations made by Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation through the WFP include assisting 30,000 people facing a drought in the southern region of GuineaBissau in 2006 and helping 3.5 million drought-affected people in Kenya in the same year.
